Internships
Reel Grrls offers several exciting year-round internship opportunities. Our unpaid internships offer a great opportunity to network, build skills in a positive work environment with an incredible team of young women, and grants you access to our professional grade video equipment! These internships are, primarily, designed for students and recent graduates looking to gain professional experience. We are happy to work your college or university to meet the requirements you need in order to receive credit; and with you to address your professional development goals.

Board Liaison Intern (Springboard)
Reel Grrls, the award-winning nonprofit that empowers girls through media production seeks a Board Liaison Intern (Springboard) to become a member of its team. This position is ideal for a student seriously pursuing a career in arts administration and non-profit leadership.
In 2012, Reel Grrls went through an important strategic process entitled Springboard. This is a program for small and mid-sized arts and cultural organizations (offered through 501 Commons) during which teams work on problems like improving business operations, increasing revenues, growing audiences, and strengthening governance. Working with consultants, these teams develop the ability to quickly identify and address organizational problems, spot opportunities, develop actionable plans, and measure success on those plans. Organizations that make this kind of intentionally focused planning a habit are more likely to succeed over time.
During the Springboard process, a Reel Grrls team of board and staff members developed a plan to address priority issues, which were identified through an organizational assessment. The Reel Grrls Springboard Plan focuses on three areas: strengthening the board, strengthening the staff and strengthening funding.
The Board Liaison Intern will work with the Reel Grrls Executive Director to implement the Plan associated with strengthening the board. Springboard Interns report to the Director, and assist her, and her organizational leadership team, to stay on track with this Plan’s action items and milestones.
Responsibilities include:
Updating the Plan
- Keep the plan up to date
- Make changes to the plan as conditions change
- Mark off action items as they are completed
Monitoring Plan Implementation
- Meet regularly with the Director to confirm progress on action items and completion dates
- Assist the Director with specific tasks that will help meet target completion dates. Sample tasks might include: compiling a board binder, researching training opportunities for board, or creating new board member commitment form
Qualifications
Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills, as well as professional discretion. Must be highly organized and a self-starter. Strong multitasking ability required, as well as the ability to meet deadlines. Must pay tremendous attention to detail. Proficiency with the Internet and social media is a must.
Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experience conducting research. Reliability and punctuality are a must. Strong motivation and skill to manage several projects at various stages of completion, as well as demonstrable follow-through are important.
An interest in non-profits and a desire to learn management and executive leadership preferred. Interest in feminism, social justice, media production, technology, and cultural issues a big plus.
Schedule can be flexible but must be able to commit to 10 hours per week. We are happy to work with your professor or advisor for credit.

HR Intern (Springboard)
