Mentor at Reel Grrls
Reel Grrls relies on the support and commitment of phenomenal adult women volunteers who mentor, train, and learn alongside our participants. We value mentors with a variety of backgrounds and skills to share: the main requirement is a commitment to empowering young women through media production. In exchange for their hard work, mentors gain access to Reel Grrls video equipment and the opportunity to network with other Seattle-based filmmakers, artists, activists, and educators.
We're looking for:
Technical Mentors:
Experienced filmmakers who are familiar with at least two of the following skills: camera, lighting, audio, or editing.
Youth Development Mentors:
These mentors help to create an open and safe environment for girls in the program by leading group-building activities, being active listeners, and providing girls with emotional support during the program.
Curriculum Mentors:
Volunteers who have a background in film history, media literacy, or other related fields.
Workshop Leaders:
Professionals with specialized know-how in the film industry (examples include: animation, scriptwriting, super 8 film).
