REEL GRRLS PRODUCTIONS APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM 2013
Dates: July 1-August 31, 2013 [Detailed calendar coming soon!]
Suggested Fee: None! This is a paid apprenticeship program*!
Location: Reel Grrls Media Lab
RG Productions Apprenticeship Program is now accepting applications! This unique program offers advanced video production and leadership training for experienced youth. Working in small teams, apprentices gain resume-building production and post-production experience by creating client videos for local organizations. The apprenticeship also includes an orientation to filmmaking for clients, and an emphasis on key professional skills such as good communication, time management, client interfacing, troubleshooting and problem solving during all phases of production.
The hands-on video production work provides grrls with an opportunity to focus on skill building though intensive workshops and one-on-one sessions with mentors, including professional filmmakers. On the program application, participants indicate their preference to specialize in Production (cinematography, directing) or Post-Production (editing, graphics). The program includes both a DSLR Cinematography workshop and an After Effects Workshop.
Applicants should have strong time management skills and a willingness to be flexible and available in order to meet the shooting and production schedules. You’ll be working with a client whose schedule may change at the last minute; you will be working with a mentor who may call a last-minute meeting. So participants should be willing to make the Apprenticeship Program their priority for the duration of the program.
*This is a professional-level apprenticeship program that pays $900 to each participant. The program runs from July 1, 2013 through August 31, 2013.Apprentices must be available for the entire period although the program schedule varies week to week, depending on planning and production needs. If the apprentice is unable to commit and participate for the entire program, the stipend amount will be decreased accordingly.
Prerequisites: Grrls must have successfully completed two other Reel Grrls programs, or similar video production experiences (such as a high-school class). Completion of the program will make participants eligible for paid positions in year-round RG Productions projects.
